Chapter Leads

The HKS Women's Network follows a decentralized structure that allows all alumnae, no matter where they live, to become a HKS Women's Network Chapter Lead. If you are committed to furthering the work of other HKS women in your community, read on.

Responsibilities

Chapter Leads are point-people for managing, gathering and growing the local HKS women community in their respective city or region. This might include:

  • Hosting visiting HKS professors for small group discussions, breakfasts or lunches;

  • Collaborating on an op-ed around a public policy issue;

  • Welcoming new HKS alumnae to the city or region;

  • Meeting with prospective HKS students;

  • Planning informal group gatherings such as happy hours or books clubs;

  • Anything else relevant and timely within the local community.

Chapter Leads have considerable creative freedom in planning events or managing projects. If there is not a representative for your city or region, consider becoming one.

Programming Objectives

  • Connect: Enable community building

  • Support: Advance the understanding of local issues, individuals and events

  • Amplify: Support the work of others

Requirements

Chapter Leads are asked to:

  • Come up with annual goals for their chapter

  • Attend at least two conference calls a year to share best practices, ideas, and feedback about the program

  • Organize four events in their city/country annually and fill in a survey to report on the outcome

  • Attend an annual review with the Chapter Leads Coordinator

Chapter Leads are invited to join a WhatsApp Group to help facilitate connection across the globe and provide real-time feedback to the Board.

Coordination with the HKSWN Board

  • Regular network-wide meetings are offered in different time zones

  • Outside of that time, Board members are happy to serve as a resource

  • Every year the Board will share a list of women HKS graduates, so that Chapter Leads can reach out to the women in your respective cities/countries

  • Chapter Leads will be assigned a Board member Referee based on their geographical zone. Chapter Leads can contact their Referee with any question related to their chapter.
